PERSONALISED LEARNING PLANS
What is it?
A Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) is a tool used to help plan, teach and monitor a student's learning to maximise their progress. Based on an assessment of the individual's skills, the plan will identify the key areas having the biggest impact on the student's achievement, and outline the steps needed to address these.
I offer two categories of PLP:
-
Level One: Goals & Strategies
A Level One PLP provides an overview of the support a student needs. This would include a summary of their strengths and weaknesses, and 3 or 4 key 'SMART' targets broken down into a series of meaningful steps. A personalised list of recommended teaching strategies and resources is also included. This level of PLP is most appropriate for use by experienced teachers and teaching assistants who have the confidence to independently implement the strategies suggested.
-
Level Two: Teaching sequence
A Level Two PLP is much more detailed. In addition to providing a summary of the student's strengths and weaknesses, and identifying key 'SMART' targets for them, a Level Two PLP also provides the suggested teaching sequence and activities required to achieve these targets. This level of PLP is most appropriate for use by teachers, teaching assistants and homeschooling parents who would appreciate the security of knowing that the lessons they are teaching have been designed by a qualified dyslexia specialist, or for those who simply do not have the time to create the plans themselves. They can also be supplemented by phone and email support.
Why get one?
These Learning Plans are designed to accelerate students' progress and are particularly valuable for students who are not working at expected levels. They can also be invaluable in giving teachers and parents the confidence that their student/child is getting the specialised input that they need.
Who is it for?
A PLP can be designed for a learner of any age, at any stage in their education. Learning plans can be designed for use by teachers, teaching assistants or parents, or to be followed independently by adult learners.
What does it cost?
The exact cost of a PLP will vary depending on your requirements. Please contact me for further information.
